The
CCID network server handles the Center’s administrative and research
needs. The file structure for the network is managed by the network
administrator. Security is defined at the project level. The network
administrator sets up new project folders and security as defined
by the principal investigator. A summary of the server organization
is as follows:
1.Shared subdirectory: This subdirectory is available
to all participants. It contains items such as:
1.1 An administrative directory for center letterheads and
contact information for investigators (telephone, email, etc.)
1.2 Journal club manuscripts, etc.
1.3 Workgroup meeting minutes, etc.
1.4 Calendars for events and workroom schedules
2. Private subdirectories – This space would provide
individuals with personal space on the server for data storage,
analyses, manuscript preparation, etc. Using server space for personal
work would ensure daily backups. Only the individual would have
access to this space.
3. Joint-use subdirectories– Joint space could be
allocated for pairs or small groups of investigators per need to
share workspace for proposal and manuscript preparation, joint projects,
etc.
4. Administrative Area – used for Center management
5. Project subdirectories - Each research project
would be organized to document activities, results, and manuscripts.
Each project would house a master database and all pertinent documentation
for data collection, management, and manipulation
6. Project Components on the Server The project component
of the server will ensure that a record of all work done on any
project is adequately documented. Each research project would be
required to prepare, manage, and maintain the following information:
