Health Care Services Available at the CCID

The CCID provides excellent oral and systemic health care:

  • The CCID has the world's leading experts in periodontal medicine, the area of health care that recognizes the link between oral inflammatory disorders and systemic health. This team provides the most up-to-date risk diagnosis for oral inflammatory conditions.
  • Multidisciplinary teams of Dentists, Hygienists, Physicians, and Nurses provide complete dental and medical care or referral in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease and other inflammatory conditions.
  • Faculty at the CCID conduct clinical studies and trials to develop the latest anti-inflammatory treatments for oral inflammatory disorders. These studies provide the latest access to anti-inflammatory therapy developed at UNC or as part of large multi-center investigations.
  • CCID faculty work in North Carolina communities to promote the importance of good oral health and to determine the most effective ways of helping people gain access to prevention and care services that will reduce their risk from heart disease, diabetes, and premature delivery and birth.
